So tired all damn day, but crawl under the covers and I cannot sleep at all till after 3:30 or so.

Crawled out of bed at 11:09 today.  Tinkered around in my room until 2 pm, then went upstairs and made two double batches of cookies--one chocolate chip and one oatmeal with chocolate chips.  Both were yummy.

Mom made Macoroni and Cheese out of a box for supper tonight.  It was good, but I really need some protein.  Did not have any breakfast or lunch--but I did eat some cookie dough and then some fresh baked cookies.  I make damned good cookies if I do say so myself.

Jack and the kids came over for about half an hour so they could collect a couple bags of cookies.  Cora was not happy because SHE wanted to bake cookies.  In fact, she wanted to bake MORE cookies right then and there.  LOL.  I told her we didn't really have time to bake cookies since they could only stay half an hour.  She wasn't pleased, but comforted herself by crawling onto Grandma's lap for the rest of the visit and forcing us all to watch the despicable Spongebob Squarepants.  ugh.

After watching The Finder with mom, I came downstairs where I intended to work on my room, but instead, I crawled under the covers and worked on cleaning out my email in-box.

I'm doing quick scan and delete.  I had over 8,000 unread emails when I started and now I am down to less than 3,000.  Most I am just deleting without looking at.

Tomorrow I will be meeting Ingrid in Owatonna to watch the Avengers.  I am hoping to go a little bit early so I can get money orders to pay a bill or two.  I'd also like to get some actual food.  Some MEAT. I crave protein.  In actual fact, I am craving a ribeye steak, medium, with portabella mushrooms and a delicious salad.

I have laundry that needs to be finished tomorrow.

The next several days are going to be a little crazy.

I will meet ingrid tomorrow--then at 5 it is Caleb's family birthday party--I would just as soon skip it as I was there for supper during his actual birthday, and I don't know Kari's family that well, and not many of OUR family actually goes.  I'll bring my sewing and it will be bearable.

On Sunday, the family is getting together at Applebys to celebrate mother's day.  We'll be meeting there at 11 am, hopefully before the place is packed to the gills.  On Sunday afternoon, Kim, Mom, and I (and whoever else wants to join us) will be going to Dark Shadows.  It looks like it will be pretty funny.  I used to watch the original Dark Shadows back in the day.

On Monday, I am meeting two of my girls, Chyenne and Megan, at my house in West Concord.  Hopefully we will be able to finish it off and I will be able to just move on and forget about it.  I will take them to dinner afterwards.  Probably we will go to Kasson to Daniels, as Hubble House is closed on Mondays.

On Tuesday, I have an appointment with my therapist.

I'm thinking that it would be fun to go to a movie after that appointment.  I like to go to movies on my own.  It's peaceful.

Also, I won four movie passes on Facebook to the Cinemagic Theater in Rochester.  Woot!

That's about it for me for today.

It is still unfinished, but that is as far as we got. She loved it too much to leave it with me until we could meet again.

On the back wall is the "erupting" volcano with the little banner proclaiming "Welcome to the Zoo." A giraffe is climbing up the right side of the volcano. A zebra (unseen in this picture) is climbing up the left side.

The "lava" pouring from the mouth of the volcano is made of curved strips of red, orange, and yellow duct tape. Cynthia placed all of the erupting lava herself. I think it looks stupendous!

The clouds are white duct tape cut into fluffy cloud shapes. All the duct tape shapes had to be peeled off the roll and then stuck to the discarded part of the contact paper so it could be cut and shaped. It peeled right off that stuff, so it helped a lot.

The tree is black duct tape. The leaves on the tree are lime green felt glued onto the "wall" with Elmer's Glue-all. The blue walls are duct tape.

The volcano is made of contact paper. There is a lower border of contact paper on the left and right walls as well, to tie it all together.

In the tree are a tiger lying comfortably on a branch and a toucan perched at the top of the branches. There is also a monkey swinging from a branch.

I love this tree.

Cynthia glued on the leaves a little less realistically than I would have--but it's her doll room, so she can make it how she likes it.

The palm leaf lamp is perhaps my favorite part of the room--it will be shown better in another photo.

The beds

The beds are both made from one check book blank box. The cover makes one bed and the bottom makes the other.

They've been covered with the same contact paper as te floor and the volcano mural. I like the way it all blends in.

I kind of see this as a fantasy zoo/desert volcanic island bedroom.

The scrapbook sticker package I bought had footprints in it too, so Cynthia pasted them to the floor leading up to the beds, as if the beds had been visited by a large creature. LOL.

The bedroom is supposed to be a boys' bedroom--though it could be for more adventurous little girls as well.

I am sure my little Piper doll would LOVE this room.

The dolls that it is made for are the Kelly sized ones. If they were real children, they'd be about 3 or 4 years old, so these beds are like the next step up from a crib.

The mattress is made of lime green fleece stuffed with scraps of quilt batting and fiber fill. The pillows are likewise made of stuffed fleece, but I was able to get the pillow cases made for them.

The bed will have a bottom sheet of the tiger striped material, and the top sheet/blanket combo will have the tiger strip on the bottom and a lime green animal print fabric for the top.

I can't describe the fabric adequately. You'll love it, is all I can say. That fabric and the sticker package I found in the scrapbook section of Walmart were the inspirations for this room.

The black box there will be a bookshelf. I have a special plan for it that involves elephants. If it turns out the way I see it in my head it will be super mega coolioso.

I have to think of something for the left wall. If I can find a sticker packet with flying tropical birds, that would be so cool. Or maybe something with camels. I don't know. I'll see what I can find.

Cynthia trimmed the bottoms of the beds with small rock-like beads that I had. It looked really cute.

Note that there is a little boy doll reclining in one of the beds. He looks like he is enjoying the room.

The lamp.

The base of this lamp is a spool which has been covered with the zigzag duct tape I found at Walmart.

The pole is made of two pipe cleaners--an orange one and a green one--twisted together.

The shade is one of those little black plastic thingies they give you tartar sauce and butter in at Perkins. It's been covered with a dark green felt.

Then, I cut out knicked leaf shapes and sewed them to the felt that was glued on. It needed "something," so I sewed on the round shaped orange pipe cleaner and added a yellow pompom as a filial.

I think it's darling. I want to make something similar for myself.

Lion cat

I've had this little cat for a long time--I thought he was a perfect addition to the "zoo" room, so I donated him to Cynthia's growing collection.

Now, I kinda miss him. :(

This is a nice close up of the right wall with its tree and its jungle critters.

The ceiling is white duct tape. The wall is blue duct tape. The tree is made of black duct tape.

The critters in the tree are part of a Jolee scrapbook sticker packet which only cost a dollar. I love the monkey. The leaves are green felt. The clouds are duct tape as well.

Duct tape is a rather versatile artistic medium! LOL
