I was feeling stir crazy today. Mom went to her Bible study and I thought it was a good opportunity to get out of the house for a while and go for a drive.

I decided I would drive to this place and take some pictures of this rather disturbing statue of Jesus.

It is recommended as "worth a detour" in the Weird Roadside Tourist Attractions" website--> http://www.roadsideamerica.com/blog/end-times-jesus-draws-battle/

The head DOES look disturbingly like the Burger King. The horse's mouth is really creepy looking and so is the roiling "cloud" which looks more like some sort of monster head or giant disembodied brain to me.

I took several shots.

I took this picture from directly beneath the statue. It felt like I was about to be run down by this charging white horse with a truly evil looking mouth.

The horn in "Jesus's" hand looks like it was freshly ripped off the head of the devil.

I believe that this "Dr. Tim Peterson" is a relative of mine--and I believe I have heard that he was corrupt.

I can't remember all the details, but it seems I heard that he had convinced his congregation to "trust in God" and sell all their cars and give the money to "the church." He sold his car as well.

When this was all said and done, he showed up with a brand new car strutting about how God "blessed him" for his faithfulness.

Hmmm....

Seems rather fishy to me.

Now, I am not sure about the whole deal as it was many years ago that I heard this--but I really do not trust that kind of preacher. Whether he is related to me or not.

This view has a little bit of the "Lone Ranger" look to me.

I wonder why the artist made the head so alarmingly large?

No saddle. I wonder how the rider stays on as his legs do not appear to be gripping the horse's belly.

You can really see the freakishly large head in this picture.

In the back of the ginormous church, in the weeds, hidden from view for the most part is a limo.

Why does a church need a limo?

Didn't Jesus call his servants to lives of poverty?

Am I just being hyper critical?

Cabellas was right across the parking lot. So I drove over their to take a few pictures as well.

Cabella's is also in the "Weird Roadside" web page.

When Cabella's was being constructed, I saw this statue heading down I35 on the back of a flat bed truck. It was gynormous!

On the inside is an exceptional display of taxidermied animals, I hear.

I have never been inside, though one day I may make a pilgrimage just to see.

My brother in law Jeff works there--that's Joni's husband.

Here are some pontoon boats. I always thought it would be fun to own a pontoon. Now I just wish I had a home.

After taking pictures of Cabellas and the Jesus statue, I went to Morehouse Park to eat some onion rings from Culvers. This is just a tiny pond in the park that is almost dried up from the drought

However, I was very excited to see some cranes in the pond! Usually it is just ducks or geese. They were pretty far out there, but I zoomed in as close as I could.

Another shot of the cranes.

They were so tranquil.
